Sizing Up Dining Room Furniture
Before you purchase dining room furniture there are several factors to evaluate to make sure you make the best choices. When you begin your search for furniture, it’s easy to get overwhelmed with all of the choices.
Everyday Furniture Use
Most likely, your dining room table will be the focal point of the room. This means it will need to be in the design and finish that corresponds to your decor preference.
You need to select a table that meets your most frequent needs with possible extensions or drop leaf designs included for infrequent occasions when you entertain. There should be ample space between the chairs and the wall for people to comfortably pull out the chairs.
Furniture For Special Occasions
Limiting the pieces of furniture in the dining room will make it look and feel more spacious. This is especially important on those special occasions when you have extra guests dining with you. A sideboard or buffet and hutch will provide a good amount of storage space and eliminate the need for lots of smaller accent pieces.
There should still be room for a comfortable flow of traffic in your dining room after all of the furniture is in place.
