Plan to take about half again as long as you believe the work will take. If all goes as planned, great! However, it’s a pretty general rule that any project will take longer than it first appears.

Using a separate page for each project, list the steps to be taken, the materials needed and if you need help. Honest evaluation could bring the realization that you need to call a friend or a contractor, or further divide that project.
Know When To Stop
Take a break. Have a cup of coffee or call a friend. The project will still be there when you get back. And of course, if things go wrong, remember: you can always call the professionals to complete the job.
