Home Improvement: Little Steps Add Up
Many homeowners put off home improvements, even do-it-yourself jobs, because the work seems enormous. Write down a list so you can see everything, then divide that list by room. Next, split each room up into smaller weekend projects.
Plan You Project
Plan to take about half again as long as you believe the work will take. If all goes as planned, great! However, it’s a pretty general rule that any project will take longer than it first appears.
Split It Up On Paper
Using a separate page for each project, list the steps to be taken, the materials needed and if you need help. Honest evaluation could bring the realization that you need to call a friend or a contractor, or further divide that project.
Know When To Stop
Take a break. Have a cup of coffee or call a friend. The project will still be there when you get back. And of course, if things go wrong, remember: you can always call the professionals to complete the job.
