Types of Wall Sconces

The varieties or types of sconces available depend on the style adopted in the manufacture of each variety and the material used in the lighting.

English Tudor Style is the basic variety of sconces where dim light is required. More like a faucet facing downwards, it is shaped like a goblet with narrow pleats as its lampshade.

The Sheffield Style is more ornate and resembles antlers, with tulip shaped lampshades with a tiny flared edge.

The Colonial Style sconces are extremely attractive and project out from the wall with a hook shaped like an S. A bluebell shaped lampshade made of glass is then suspended from the hook.

The Storybook Style wall sconces are made of black metal or cast iron with candle shaped bulbs in them.

The Craftsman Style is a highly popular sconce made of cast iron or black metal but the lampshade is shaped more like a globe.

The Art Deco Style sconces are extremely beautiful decorative pieces with a bulb fixed inside the glass which is frosted and designed.

All of these styles come with electric bulbs, candle lights or with electric candle lights.

Today sconces are available to suit any décor and room size in a large variety of materials.
